Psychotherapeutic Yoga Classes
Dr. Sara Morrow is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and created a healthcare program in 2013, Mind Balance Yoga, in order to guide people toward optimal well-being, combining the science of western psychology with the wisdom of yoga. The program combines the skills training and education Dr. Morrow provides her therapy clients with the practice of gentle, therapeutic yoga. The intention of Mind Balance Yoga is to enhance our capacity for sustained mindful awareness, learning how to consciously bring the physiology of the body toward a state of healing.

Dr. Morrow finds that yoga is the “putting into practice” much of what she teaches as a psychologist – mindful awareness, breathing techniques to shift physiology, relaxation practices, increased awareness of harmful ways of thinking, cognitive restructuring to direct the mind towards adaptive ways of thinking, restructuring the nervous system with neuroplasticity, self-compassion, gratitude, developing a healthy self-image, social and communication skills, coping skills for reducing stress/anger/anxiety/depression, how to heal trauma, and the importance of movement, sleep, and nutrition for optimal health. Ultimately, therapeutic yoga is a method for enhancing resilience and healing at the root cause of suffering.
